Blessing of Kalaba Chapel

Mansa (ZAMBIA) 12/09/2019 :: Blessing of the Divine Mercy Chapel in Kalaba Village – Mansa. The Bishop of Mansa, Right Rev. Patrick Chisanga OFM Conv. has blessed and dedicated the chapel built in Kalaba Village, a centre of St James Parish (Chimese).

The Chapel built in Kalaba is was dedicated on the Feast of the Sweet Name of Mary. The ceremony was well attended not only by the Christian community of Kalaba but also of members of various lay groups of St James Parish and a good representation of the church council of St James.

The ceremony began with a procession led by the Xaverians of St James Parish followed by the Altar Servers, Stella Girls, Choirs and parish council that escorted the Bishop of Mansa from the turn off to Mulala village to the chapel.

Bishop Chisanga blessed the Chapel and met with the church council of Kalaba Centre immediately after mass.

During his homily, bishop Patrick emphasized in the involvement of the community in the maintenance and care of the church.

During the words of thanksgiving, the parish priest of Chimese Fr Antonio stressed the commitment of the community in the construction of the chapel. He explained to the bishop that the community was fully involved from the outset and that’s the reason why it was built in good time and within the budget.
